Conify’s Involvement:

This project aims to explore how Additive Manufacturing (AM) can enhance sustainability and efficiency in the production processes of an aerospace component case originally manufactured in 7xxx series aluminum alloy, provided from our partner 3D-Components AS. Conify will optimise the processing of an advanced Al-Mg-Sc-Zr high-strength aluminum alloy using Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) technology and validate the mechanical performance requirements of the selected demonstration case.
To support environmentally friendly manufacturing practices, Conify aims to develop advanced methods for sustainability assessment, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and cost analysis. By comparing traditional manufacturing methods (CNC machining) with additive manufacturing (AM), the evaluation will focus on their environmental and economic impacts, including energy consumption, material waste, and CO 2 emissions, aiming to advance greener, smarter and more efficient manufacturing practices.
